About me

Hi my name is Jack and I am a year old electrical/software engineer.

After I left school , I went to KITS (Kirkdale Industrial Training School) for a year and a course at Huddersfield College. They set me up with a job at Marshalls who in turn sent me to DHES (Danny Hall Electrical Services) for two years before I could return to Marshalls. During the last half year of working at DHES I was talking to a friend who I went to KITS with and he let me know that the company he worked for (Cummins Turbo Technologies) were looking for another electrician. I jumped at this because his company were closer to home, payed more, and worked less hours. I got a job at Cummins and within 7 years worked my way to almost the top of the electrical technician department, the only job left was my bosses. At this time I had made good friends with one of the software guys (Andy McKlennan) who let me know that there was a job coming up in his department. So I had an interview and got the job, as long as I went to university and got a degree in something to do with computers.

During my time at Huddersfield college I managed to get an ONC and allowed to go to Huddersfield university to get a HNC. After this I waited till I got told I had to go to university for my degree in something to do with computers. During my first year of the degree I had a car crash, this led them to finding a non-cancerous tumor in my neck. After I had had the tumor removed I had a stroke, this caused me to leave work as I was unfit to carry on. I would love to carry on with my degree and hope to re-start it sometime this/next year.

Education: 10 GCSE's; ONC in electronics; HNC in electronics; Part of a degree in software
Technical skills: Electrical Engineer; Software Engineer; Technical linux user
Practical skills: Photography; Video games; Warhammer painting

What I want to do next

Over the next couple of years, I would like to...

Computer: ~~Upgrade my computer to use M.2 ssds like all the cool kids have.~~ DONE; Water cool my computer. Not too sure about this one; ~~Upgrade my usbs in the pc to type c.~~ DONE
Camera: Get to know my camera like the back of my hand.; Use my macro lens more.; Practice with my flash.
Programming: ~~Learn a new programming language(javascript I'm looking at you).~~ I'm doing a course on JAVA at Open Uni.; Know bash inside out. This is an odd one, I'm gonna need a list of things id like to try.; Use ~~python~~ JAVA more.
House: Plan out my house renovation.; Plan out my office.; Plan out my garage.
